One Day Only
Sessions with Santa
An annual portrait with Santa has become a tradition
for many children and families. Although
we never want to push aside the true meaning of Christmas, we are very excited
that Santa is honoring us with a visit on November 19. Santa will be available for pre-scheduled, 30
minute, portrait sessions with your children.
The setting will include rich burgundy tones and a decorated tree in the
setting of a traditional style home. Our
style and creative set up will insure Santa will make an appearance in the portraits
even if your little one has Santa-phobia!

Ingredients for a sweet sandwich -- Mom, Dad, and three adorably edible kids!
Toast:
For each piece: Cut a 20-x-30-inch piece of foam core to
resemble toast. Make belt with face-to-face duct tape. Attach
adhesive-backed Velcro to each end; use as closure. Tape belt to foam
core at waist level. Cut light brown felt into toast shape (about
25-x-35 inches), and hot-glue a 1-1/2-inch-wide dark brown felt border.
Attach to foam core with duct tape.

At Cynthia Pace Photography, we often talk about the "curl factor" in newborns. The interview below gives excellent examples of what we mean. You can mold a very young, sleeping into nearly any pose you would like. We LOVE 2 week olds!
Move over Anne Geddes — there's a new baby photographer in town. Tracy Raver was on the "Today" show Friday morning to talk about her unique way of photographing newborns. Searches on the shutterbug promptly shot through the roof.
The photos (many of which you can see in the video below) are of sleeping babies that seem to be posing for the camera. Raver explained that getting babies into cute poses is easier than one might think. A full belly and a warm room will do wonders for making a baby sleepy. And once those eyelids shut, it's pretty simple to pose the baby.
In the interview with Meredith Vieira, Raver said that she strives for photos that show babies curled up, as if they were in their mother's womb. In addition to taking photos for clients, Ms. Raver also instructs other photographers on how to keep babies asleep and calm enough to take photos. And while most babies respond to the same tricks, Raver explained that little girls tend to be feistier than boys.
As for the searches, it appears that the "Today" show interview will do wonders for Raver's business. Queries on her name and "tracy raver photography" both posted triple-digit gains.
We assume many parents will be inspired by the interview to photograph their own babies. Parents should act quickly — according to Raver, after the baby is a month old, it gets a lot more difficult.

The staff here has been in prayer as always. Our prayer is that we can you give to you the best our ability allows us, and in return the word will spread. We have been blessed and blessed and blessed to the point that we have been running behind in our production of your portraits at times. Well, we are addressing it with the 2 new employees and a lot of over time. We may have been behind, but look out 'cause we are gettin' on a roll. Please let us know if there is a specific deadline so that we can make sure to have your portraits ready! No issues for last minute Christmas cards, as the lab has a different system of production to rush them through! THANK YOU FOR ENTRUSTING YOUR MEMORIES TO US! WE LOVE YOU ALL!

I want to challenge each of you; I am part of a book study at Riverland Hills Baptist Church and we are reading Do Hard Things. It is written by 2 young teens, Alex and Brett Harris. Their book discusses the low expectations we have for young people, especially teens. It is a reminder that we need to challenge our children, but in truth, by doing this, I think we are also challenging ourselves as parents.
This post is just me reflecting on Sarah-Jane's recent art show and the book. I could just let her enjoy her camera and say nice job, without challenging her. I am greatful that God gave me the get up and go to challenge her. Yes, it was harder on me to organize her this first time, but it has given her a confident start. As an 11 year old, she met other artists and adults that spurred her on and invited her (challenged if you will) to be a part of other things involving art.
I don't know if this was an "ah ha!" moment for her, but it was for me. I got to see her interact with adults and make some decisions. She still has bills to pay off for the show and I must have the stamina to keep her going until she pays it off. It has been as much of a challenge for me as for my child.
As parents the right thing is often the hardest. Do we really want things to be painful or frustrating for our kids? Of course we don't! I am coming to realize however that I can not rescue my children if I want them learn and grow. I was put on this earth to guide and watch over them, preparing them to be good parents. How will they learn and know without failing. I truly can not say that I know of one young person that you can advise and have them truly listen and follow the advice. Everyone thinks it will be different for them.
A client told me yesterday that they only wish they could have the energy of their 6 year old, the body of a 24 year old and the wisdom of an 80 year old. Yeah, that about sums it up. We never have all the needed wisdom. I am forever learning and growing.
As my children get older, I realize that I have less time to train them. It almost seems like the time I need to stick the closest, but at the same time let them go. It is a frightening place to be. I am truly challenged!
I am going to do more research on these two and the book, but for now I must mop the downstairs and supervise the organization of the playroom!
